This project explored creating my own script— Naoris.

The name of my script, Naoris, is two Latin words Narro meaning ‘to tell,’ ‘to narrate’, and Oris, meaning mouth, which fits my script as it is based on the shape of the mouth when it makes specific sounds. I then simplified these shapes and added extra symbols to differentiate the particular letters/sounds.

Since this script is based on phonetic sounds rather than individual letters, it can be used with any language, including additional characters to contain the sounds from those languages. I found that my script could be this “universal” script when I noticed that my script could encompass accents as well.

Naoris Guide

To make the process of decoding the script easier this is the guide I would reference. Since the script is based on phonetic sound rather than spelling some words could be spelt differently depending on how a person says them. As such the guide can be used to help narrow down what the person has said.
