Typographics is an event that celebrates types past, present and emerging. A place were designers and lovers of typography can accumulate to see contemporary type and the the futures of fonts. The festival creates a platform for international dialogue within the industry.

For this project we explored these themes;

Beyond the Real

Type Beyond the Screen/Page

Type in New Dimensions

Where Type has Come From, Where Type is Going

Of the origins and the future of typography. Our themes are present throughout the different assets we created for this project. The most noticeable way it is expressed is through the integration of 3d modeling software which utilised Old English font to bring the past font into a new era. (Curtesy of Amy Fisher) The font was given a reflective material to simulate mirrors or glass. This intangium with the more modern font, patterns and ode to the software they were created from our group produced a poster series, social media tiles, a pamphlet and vertical banners.

While exploring the themes mentioned we experimented with different textures, fonts, colours and effects on the floating text, seen below.

To show the wide range of ways Typographics could utilise this new visual identity 9 social media tiles were designed. These show how Typographics can utilise these designs for general information (events, conferences, speakers/quests, etc.) and promotion.

Poster Series

Posters designed by Bethany-Ann Barclay

To further express how the new visual identity would be utilised within different aspects of Typographics 2022, a poster series was created for promotion of the event.

The location of the event will have banners to further entice people to engage with Typographics 2022, seen below.

The brief also called for a pamphlet that informed the user about Typographics, the events (workshops, conferences and times) and speakers present.

The last asset that was created for this project was a website landing page that further informed interested participants about what Typographics 2022 was. It also further informed how the visual identity can be placed within a digital format.
